iOS App: 2026.05.31 (2026-06-15)

Status Message on the Loading Screen

What changed: When the app has trouble reaching Nimbio at startup, the loading screen can now display a short, custom status message (for example, a heads-up about planned maintenance) instead of leaving you guessing. If your device has no internet connection at all, it shows a clear “no network connection” note instead.

Where to find it: The app’s loading screen, shown while the app connects on startup.

What you’ll see: After a few seconds of being unable to connect, an info icon appears alongside a short message — either a note from Nimbio about a known issue, or a simple message that your connection is unavailable.

What you need to do: No action needed.

Dark Mode Readability Improvements

What changed: A sweep of dark mode fixes across the app so that previously hard-to-read elements are now clearly visible against dark backgrounds.

Where to find it: Throughout the app when your device is in dark mode — input fields, dialogs, the recurring-schedule picker, and tabbed screens.

What you’ll see: Text you type into fields is now legible, dialog boxes use readable surfaces, the scrolling picker wheels and the recurring-schedule day boxes and time columns are visible, checkboxes and radio buttons show up clearly, and the selected tab label no longer blends into the background.

What you need to do: No action needed.

Smaller Polish Fixes

What changed: A couple of minor UI fixes: the community search list now scrolls when results fill the screen, and the “Send” reminder button on the edit key screen no longer wraps awkwardly.

Where to find it: Add a community (search list); Keys (Home) tab > manage a key > edit key.

What you’ll see: When searching for a community, you can scroll through all matches even when they fill the screen. On the edit key screen, the “Send” reminder button lays out cleanly.

What you need to do: No action needed.

Easier Access to Directory Settings & Access Codes in My Communities

What changed: My Communities now opens to the Accepted tab when you have accepted communities, and each community row shows dedicated “Directory Settings” and “Access Codes” buttons instead of relying on tapping the row.

Where to find it: Profile tab > My Communities.

What you’ll see: The screen lands on the Accepted tab. On each community that supports them, two clearly labeled buttons appear on the row — tap “Directory Settings” to manage opt-out / custom display name, or “Access Codes” to manage your codes. Communities that only support one show just that button.

What you need to do: No action needed.

Directory Opt-Out and Access Codes Now Save Correctly

What changed: Opting out of a community directory, setting a custom display name, and creating a personal directory access code now save reliably. Previously these actions could appear to do nothing — you’d tap Save and the change wouldn’t stick, with no error shown.

Where to find it: Profile tab > My Communities > tap a community (Directory Preferences); and the access-code management screen for that community.

What you’ll see: Toggling “Opt out of directory” and tapping Save now persists your choice, and newly created access codes appear in your list. When creating an access code you pick which gates it opens by name (no more raw IDs), and creation works reliably — all of your gates start selected (at least one is required), the checkboxes are clearly visible, and you can tap an existing code to change which gates it opens. If something genuinely can’t be saved, you’ll now see a clear message explaining why instead of silence. Returning to the My Communities list after saving no longer leaves a loading spinner stuck at the top.

What you need to do: No action needed.

Smoother Reconnect After a Pause

What changed: The iOS app handles network interruptions and idle backgrounding more gracefully. Brief connection drops recover silently in the background instead of flashing the “Reconnecting” dialog every time. When you return to the app after it has been in the background for more than two minutes, the app quietly verifies the connection is still healthy and re-establishes it if not. After ten minutes in the background, it skips the probe and forces a clean reconnect immediately, so the app is responsive the moment you come back. Tapping Open on a stuck connection also now fails cleanly after 15 seconds instead of spinning forever.

Where to find it: Anywhere across the app — most noticeable when you return to Nimbio after a while (commute, lunch break, overnight) or on a flaky Wi-Fi connection.

What you’ll see: The “Reconnecting” dialog no longer pops up for every 2-second hiccup. Your keys list and Open buttons are immediately responsive when you return to the app after a long pause, instead of being briefly stuck. If the connection really is down, tapping Open will now error out after 15 seconds with a proper failure instead of an endless spinner.

What you need to do: No action needed.

Scan Only Gates

What changed: When a gate requires you to tap an NFC tag to open, the app now shows a “Scan Only” badge on that gate so you know up front. If you tap Open on a Scan Only gate, you’ll see a clear prompt asking you to tap your tag at the gate instead.

Where to find it: App > Keys (Home) tab > each Scan Only latch shows the badge under the gate name.

What you’ll see: A “Scan Only” chip on affected gates, and an “Tap your NFC tag at the gate to open” toast if you accidentally try to remote-open one.

What you need to do: Tap your tag at the gate to open Scan Only gates.

Pin Your Most-Used Keys

What changed: You can now pin keys so they always appear at the top of your list, both in the app and on CarPlay. We also replaced the per-key share button with a tidier three-dot menu that holds Share and Pin/Unpin together.

Where to find it: App > Keys (Home) tab > three-dot menu on any key > Pin.

What you’ll see: Every key now has a three-dot menu instead of an inline share icon. The menu has “Share” (for keys you can share) and “Pin” / “Unpin” on every key. Pinned keys float to the top of your list on the home screen and on CarPlay.

What you need to do: Tap the three-dot menu on any key and choose Pin to move it to the top. Unpin it the same way.

Live Hold-Open Status on Keys

What changed: Your keys now show a real-time indicator when a gate is currently being held open. The status updates live without needing to refresh.

Where to find it: App > Keys (Home) tab > key list

What you’ll see: Keys associated with a gate in hold-open mode display a visible “Held Open” status badge that appears and disappears in real time as the hold-open state changes.

What you need to do: No action needed — the live status appears automatically on affected keys.

Access Codes for Directory Listings

What changed: Members can now create and manage access codes for their directory listing. Guests can use these codes to open the gate directly from the community directory — no video call needed.

Where to find it: App > Profile tab > My Communities > select a community > Access Codes

What you’ll see: A management screen where you can create new access codes, set schedules (days of week and time of day), set expiration dates, and view or delete existing codes.

What you need to do: Navigate to your community’s access codes and create codes for guests who need gate access. Share the codes with your expected visitors — they’ll enter the code on the community directory page to open the gate.

Who this affects: Members, Guests (who use the codes)

Double-Tap Prevention

What changed: Fixed an issue where tapping “Create Community” or “Program Device” rapidly could submit the action multiple times, causing duplicate entries or errors.

Where to find it: Community creation and device programming flows

What you’ll see: Buttons now disable after the first tap until the action completes, preventing accidental duplicate submissions.

What you need to do: No action needed — the fix applies automatically.
