Why Modern Properties are Switching to Cellular Access
Every Nimbio deployment runs on a proven cellular foundation: a multi-carrier LTE controller that retrofits your existing gate or lock hardware and a cloud platform that logs and manages every access event.
- ✓Works with any electric gate, door, or lock operating at 6.5V or higher — no rip-and-replace.
- ✓Zero Wi-Fi required — runs on a multi-carrier LTE SIM (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile).
- ✓Existing clickers, fobs, and keypad codes keep working alongside the app.
- ✓Instant digital key revocation and 24/7 access logs from the cloud dashboard.
- ✓GuestView adds visitor video verification at the gate (one-way by default, two-way optional) — no external camera to install.
- ✓CarPlay and Android Auto triggers so residents open the gate from the car.
- ✓Low-power and solar-compatible: 40–70mA at 24VDC, 2.4W peak draw.
- ✓No local Wi-Fi means no man-in-the-middle sniffing; traffic is secured with SSL/TLS on enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure.
- ✓Lifetime hardware warranty — if your controller ever stops working for any reason, Nimbio provides a prompt replacement.

How Nimbio compares to other gate access methods
Most properties still rely on clickers, a Wi-Fi bridge bolted onto a smart relay, or short-range NFC/Bluetooth readers. Here is how cellular LTE access stacks up.

Solutions Q&A
Solutions questions, answered
What is a cellular gate opener?
A cellular gate opener (also called a cellular gate entry app) is a device and smartphone app that opens, closes, and monitors your gate or door over a cellular LTE network — not Wi-Fi, not Bluetooth, and not a landline. Nimbio is a cellular-first hardware/software platform: a retrofit controller wires in parallel to your existing gate operator and connects to a multi-carrier LTE SIM (AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile) — the SIM works internationally too, and international customers should contact us to confirm which networks are supported in their region. The Nimbio cloud platform receives every access event, stores the 24/7 audit log, and relays open/close commands in real time. Residents and staff trigger the gate from the Nimbio iOS or Android app, Apple CarPlay, or Android Auto — from anywhere in the world, with no on-site internet required.
How much does a cellular gate entry system cost?
For residential communities, Nimbio’s pricing is based on the number of homes, not the number of users. A community with 50 homes pays the same monthly rate whether residents add one family member or ten — there are no per-user or per-key fees and no limits on digital guest passes. For commercial properties, pricing is flexible and scales with the number of access points and managed sites. Contact us for a custom quote tailored to your property type and access volume.
Is cellular gate access more secure than local Wi-Fi or Bluetooth?
Yes. A Wi-Fi-bridged gate controller creates an attack surface at the property’s local network: anyone who gains access to that Wi-Fi can attempt man-in-the-middle sniffing to intercept gate commands or credentials. Bluetooth and NFC readers require physical proximity but are vulnerable to relay attacks and Bluetooth Low Energy sniffing. Nimbio bypasses the local network entirely — the hardware controller communicates directly over cellular LTE to Nimbio’s cloud, secured with SSL/TLS on enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure. There is no on-site Wi-Fi password to steal, no open Bluetooth beacon to spoof, and no local server to compromise.
How is Nimbio priced across solutions?
It depends on the solution. Residential communities are billed a flat rate based on the number of homes, not the number of users — residents can add as many family members and guest keys as they need without changing your cost. Commercial properties use flexible pricing based on the number of active users instead.
Professional Installation & Support
Nimbio hardware is engineered for seamless integration, but physical installation is completed by independent, professional gate technicians or local low-voltage installers. Because every commercial gate, multifamily doorway, and residential lock is unique, installation pricing is determined directly by your selected technician. To guarantee a flawless setup, Nimbio’s dedicated technical support team is available by phone to provide your installer with step-by-step wiring walkthroughs and remote assistance during the physical installation. We recommend using a professional installer; our technicians are happy to support anyone who takes on the installation, though HOA, multifamily, and commercial properties should confirm their work complies with local regulations governing gate access.
