GuestView Guide for Residents

As a Nimbio community member, GuestView is the system your visitors use to reach you when they arrive at the gate. While you won’t use the GuestView directory yourself, you have control over how you appear on it and how your guests can enter the property.

Use the Nimbio mobile app to customize your directory listing, create access codes for your visitors, and answer guest calls.

🚨 Note: The features available to you depend on what your Community Manager has enabled. If you don’t see a specific option mentioned below, it has been turned off for your community.

1. Directory Preferences: Controlling How You Appear

You can choose whether you want to be listed in the public directory and what name visitors will see.

📱 App Navigation: Profile Tab > My Communities >[Your Community] > Directory Preferences

Hide Yourself from the Directory

If you don’t want unsolicited calls, or simply don’t expect guests, you can remove yourself entirely.

  • Locate the Opt out of directory toggle.

  • Turn it ON to instantly remove your name. Visitors will no longer see you when they scan the gate’s QR code.

Set a Custom Display Name

By default, the directory shows your first initial and last name (for example, “J. Smith”). If your community manager allows it, you can change this to anything you want visitors to recognize.

  • Tap the text field and enter your new name.

  • Popular examples: “Apartment 5B”, “Maple House”, “The Yoga Studio”, or a known nickname.

  • Tap Save. The directory updates immediately for all new visitors.

2. Creating Access Codes for Visitors

Access codes let your trusted visitors (friends, dog walkers, delivery drivers) open the gate themselves without calling you. You create the code, pick the gates, and choose when it expires.

📱 App Navigation: Profile Tab > My Communities > [Your Community] > Access Code Management

How to create a new code:

  1. Tap Create new code.

  2. Enter the code value: Pick something easy for your visitor to type. Letters, numbers, and spaces are all allowed.

  3. Choose the gates: You will see a list of eligible gates. Tap the checkbox for each gate this code should open.

  4. Set an expiration (Optional): Restrict when the code works. For example, you can set it to be valid only for the next three days, or only on weekdays between 9am and 5pm.

  5. Tap Save.

Once saved, simply text or email the code to your visitor. They will type it into the GuestView directory at the gate, and it will open instantly.

3. Managing Your Access Codes

From the Access Code Management screen, you can view a list of every code you’ve created. For each code, you can see which gates it opens, when it expires, and whether it is currently active.

If you need to revoke access, you have two options:

  • Disable (Reversible): Flip the toggle to OFF. The code stops working immediately, and visitors will see “This code is currently disabled” if they try to use it. You can easily flip it back ON later.

  • Delete (Permanent): Permanently remove the code from your list. Once deleted, it cannot be recovered.

⚠️ Deleting is permanent. If you aren’t completely sure whether a visitor will need their code again in the future, it is always safest to Disable it instead of deleting it.

4. Receiving Guest Video Calls

If a visitor doesn’t have an access code, they can look you up in the GuestView directory and tap Call. Here is what happens next:

  1. Your phone rings directly through the Nimbio mobile app.

  2. Answer the call to open a live video feed. You will be able to see and speak face-to-face with your visitor at the gate.

  3. Tap to Open: If you want to let them in, tap the open button directly from the call screen.

Note: If you are unavailable and do not answer, the call will time out. The visitor can try calling again, or use an access code if you provided them with one.

🔒 A Quick Note on Privacy

What can your Community Manager see?
Your privacy is important. While your community manager can see the access codes you’ve created and an audit log of when those codes were used at the gate, they cannot see your personal contact list or who you have shared those codes with.
