Add App and Cellular Access to Your DoorKing Gate or Call Box
Whether DoorKing made your gate operator, your call box, or both, Nimbio wires in parallel to the same dry-contact input your existing controls already use. Nothing is removed, no Wi-Fi is needed, and the hardware you have keeps working exactly as before.
Does Nimbio work with a DoorKing gate or call box?
Yes. DoorKing (DKS) is on Nimbio’s supported list, and it doesn’t matter which part of your gate is DoorKing. Nimbio wires in parallel to the dry-contact trigger input on the gate operator, the same input your clickers, keypads, and call box already close to open the gate. If the operator is powered (6.5V–24V AC or DC), Nimbio works with it, and no operator replacement is required.
DoorKing gate operator
Nimbio connects to the operator’s trigger input and draws power from its existing supply.
- A trigger input: the dry-contact terminals your clickers and keypads already use
- Power: 6.5V–24V AC or DC from the operator’s existing supply
- Nothing else: no Wi-Fi, no router, no Ethernet run
DoorKing call box with another brand’s operator
A DoorKing call box paired with another brand’s gate operator is a common setup. Nimbio wires to that operator’s trigger input alongside the call box, so the DoorKing call box stays in place and keeps working. Any operator on the supported list qualifies.
Nimbio’s technical support team supplies wiring diagrams for DoorKing (DKS) hardware and walks your installer through the connection by phone. Not sure your setup qualifies? Call 1-800-353-3422 before you install and support will confirm compatibility.
What changes once Nimbio is on your DoorKing gate or call box?
The gate itself stays the same. What changes is how people open it and how you manage who can.
Open from your phone or your car
Open the gate straight from the Nimbio app on iOS and Android, or from the dashboard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. No clicker to lose, no fob to replace.
Share keys, revoke them instantly
Family Keys give everyone in the household their own digital key on their own phone. From the Community Manager portal, a manager revokes any key holder’s or vendor’s key instantly, and can set a scheduled expiration date so access ends when you choose.
Know who came through
Nimbio can send a push notification every time a shared key is used — turn on key notifications for that key in the app. You can also check the gate’s live status, open or closed, from the app at any time.
Visitors without a camera at the gate
GuestView adds visitor video verification through the visitor’s own smartphone: they scan a QR code or tap an NFC panel, you get a text with a link, and a video call starts. GuestLinks let you share a link that opens the gate for a party or a one-off visit, with no app for the guest.

How is Nimbio installed with a DoorKing gate or call box?
Because Nimbio wires in parallel with your existing controls, installation is straightforward for a gate or low-voltage tech. Provisioning is done over Bluetooth in about 60 seconds.
Mount and power
Mount the Nimbio controller inside the DoorKing operator enclosure and connect power from the operator’s existing supply, any source from 6.5V to 24V, AC or DC.
Wire the relay in parallel
Wire the relay’s dry contact to the operator’s trigger input, in parallel with the existing clicker and keypad wiring. Nothing is removed. Set the adjustable Relay On Time (0.5s–10s) to match what the operator needs to actuate.
Power on and provision
The device connects to the strongest available LTE tower with no Wi-Fi setup. Provision the unit from the app over Bluetooth in about 60 seconds, then test the relay from the smartphone app.
Who does the install?
Physical installation is completed by independent, professional gate technicians or local low-voltage installers, and installation pricing is set directly by your selected technician. Nimbio’s technical support team is available by phone to give your installer step-by-step wiring walkthroughs during the install. We recommend a professional installer; HOA, multifamily, and commercial properties should confirm the work complies with local regulations governing gate access.
Can I keep my DoorKing call box, keypad, and clickers?
Yes. Nimbio runs in parallel with your existing access hardware. Every clicker, fob, keypad, and call box you already have continues to work exactly as before, including a DoorKing call box that opens another brand’s operator. Nimbio adds smartphone access, GuestView, and cloud management on top.
