Why do gate and low-voltage techs choose Nimbio?

Traditional gate access installs trap technicians in a cycle of one-time jobs. Wi-Fi bridges require IT coordination. Smart intercoms have complex wiring and fragile hardware. Nimbio eliminates all of it — and turns gate installs into a recurring revenue stream.

No trenching, no IT hassles

Nimbio wires in parallel to the gate operator’s existing dry-contact input — no new conduit, no Ethernet run, no Wi-Fi bridge configuration. The pre-installed multi-carrier SIM connects to the strongest LTE tower automatically on first power.

  • No conduit, no Ethernet, no Wi-Fi coordination
  • Works alongside existing clickers and keypads
  • ~60-second Bluetooth provisioning via Installer App

Recurring monthly revenue on every job

Every Nimbio installation you complete earns you a generous monthly RMR share. Convert one-time installations into a predictable, growing income stream without adding support overhead.

  • Paid monthly on every active installation
  • No support burden on the installer post-install
  • Portfolio of installs compounds your monthly income

Works with every gate brand

Nimbio connects to the dry-contact relay input found on virtually all electric gate operators — LiftMaster, FAAC, Linear, Nice Apollo, Ghost Controls, Elite, and others. If your customer’s gate runs at 6.5V–24V, Nimbio fits.

  • Compatible with swing, slide, and vertical lift gates
  • 6.5V–24V AC/DC input range covers solar setups
  • NEMA weatherproof enclosures available for legacy hardware

How long does it take to install Nimbio?

A standard Nimbio installation at a single gate is typically complete in under 30 minutes — including wiring and provisioning. No network testing, no IT coordination, no follow-up support calls for connectivity issues.

1

Wire the controller

Connect 7 wires to the gate operator — power, ground, and the relay inputs. Installs in parallel so existing clickers, keypads, and fobs keep working.

2

Pair via Bluetooth

Open the Nimbio Installer App on your phone. Provision the device in ~60 seconds over Bluetooth. The pre-installed SIM auto-connects to the strongest LTE carrier.

3

Hand off to customer

Customer downloads the Nimbio app and gets instant access. You start earning RMR from that month. No return visit needed for connectivity setup.

What happens to the gate if the cellular network goes down?

Because Nimbio wires in parallel, every existing clicker, keypad, and fob keeps working through a cellular outage — they never depended on the network in the first place. In addition, a property administrator or community manager can enable Nimbio’s failsafe setting: if the controller loses cellular connectivity, it commands the gate to hold open until the connection is restored, so users and visitors are not locked out by a network event.

Existing hardware is independent

Clickers, keypads, and fobs are wired directly to the operator, in parallel with Nimbio. They work identically whether the cellular network is up or down — a Nimbio install never makes the gate more dependent on connectivity than it was before.

Optional failsafe hold-open

A setting the property’s administrator or community manager can enable: on loss of cellular connectivity, the controller holds the gate open until the connection returns. Properties that prefer to stay closed during an outage simply leave it off.

Built for weak-signal sites

Every controller ships with two rubber SMA antennas (2dBi and 5dBi+), and the pre-installed SIM connects to the strongest available signal across AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile. For genuinely low-signal sites, external higher-gain LTE antennas are available.

How fast does the gate open after a user taps Open?

About one second for most users. From app tap to relay fire is typically one to two seconds, depending mainly on the user’s own phone connection.

How does Nimbio compare to piecing together a cellular gate setup?

Installers usually weigh two other routes to cellular gate access: a cellular router feeding a networked access panel, or a basic SMS relay box with its own SIM card. Here is how the three approaches compare on the details that generate — or prevent — callbacks.

Cellular router + networked panel

  • Multiple hardware SKUs to spec, stock, and warranty separately
  • A separate cellular data plan to size, purchase, and re-bill monthly
  • VPN, APN, or firewall configuration to keep the panel reachable
  • Networking skill set required on every truck roll

Basic SMS relay box

  • Caller-ID whitelists programmed by text-message commands
  • Prepaid SIM top-ups and keep-alive activity to maintain
  • No per-user credentials or scheduled access — a phone number in the list is the key
  • Little or no audit trail, and no video verification of visitors

Nimbio cellular access platform

  • One controller, cellular data included — nothing else to spec or bill
  • Per-user digital keys with scheduled expiration and instant revocation
  • Full access logs, managed from the app — no SMS programming
  • GuestView video verification for visitors and delivery drivers

What is the difference between Standard and Installer billing models?

Nimbio offers two partner billing structures. Both earn RMR on every active install. The difference is in who the customer relationship belongs to and how billing flows.

Standard Model

Nimbio bills the customer

Nimbio handles all customer billing, support, and account management. You install, earn a generous RMR share monthly, and Nimbio does the rest. Best for installers who want to add a recurring revenue stream without taking on subscription management.

  • No billing or support overhead for the installer
  • RMR share paid monthly by Nimbio
  • Fastest path to recurring income

Installer Model (White-Label)

You bill the customer

You own the customer relationship and set your own subscription price. Nimbio bills you at the wholesale rate; you mark up and bill your customers directly. Best for integrators who want to offer Nimbio as part of a branded managed services package.

  • White-label option — Nimbio can be co-branded
  • Full customer and billing control

How do I quote Nimbio to a customer?

Quoting is same-day simple: $299 hardware per controller, plus a flat monthly subscription that covers cellular data, the platform, support, and over-the-air updates — there is no data plan, SIM, or carrier account to add to the quote. For residential properties — single-family homes, HOAs, and apartment communities — the subscription is flat-rate per home, so your proposal scales cleanly with unit count and your RMR grows predictably as the community fills. For commercial properties, pricing is based on the number of active users, tallied automatically at the end of each month — no usage forecasting needed in your proposal, and volume discounts apply to larger sites. Contact us with the site details and we’ll put a number together. Your installation labor is the only other line item, and you price it yourself.

Frequently asked questions — integrators & low-voltage techs

How does Nimbio generate recurring revenue for gate installers?

Every Nimbio unit you install enters either the Standard or Installer billing model. Under Standard, Nimbio pays you a monthly RMR share for each active subscription. Under Installer/white-label, you bill the end customer at your own rate and pay Nimbio directly each month. Both models create monthly income from a one-time install job.

Does Nimbio require any network setup from me or the customer?

No. The Nimbio controller has a pre-installed multi-carrier LTE SIM that auto-connects to the strongest available tower (AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile) on first power. The SIM works internationally too — international customers should contact us to confirm which networks are supported in their region. There is no Wi-Fi configuration, no router access required, and no IT coordination needed from you or the property. Cellular data is included in the Nimbio subscription — there is no SIM plan or data bill for you or the customer to manage.

What gate types and brands does Nimbio support?

Any gate operator with a dry-contact relay input at 6.5V–24V AC/DC is compatible — swing gates, slide gates, vertical lift barriers, and gate arms. This covers LiftMaster, Linear, Ghost Controls, Viking Access Systems, Eagle, Nice Apollo, All-O-Matic, DoorKing (DKS), Mighty Mule, USAutomatic, FAAC Technologies, HySecurity, BFT, Ramset, Topens, Elite, and virtually all other commercial and residential brands. If your customer’s gate has a dry-contact input at the right voltage, Nimbio will work with it.

Can I use Nimbio on electric door locks as well as gates?

Yes. While the majority of Nimbio installations are on gate operators, the controller is also compatible with electric strike locks, magnetic locks, and door access applications — any electric lock with a dry-contact input at 6.5V–24V.

What support do I get as a Nimbio partner?
