Nimbio Installation Guide for Gate Technicians


Step 1: Pre-Installation Checklist

For a fast and successful installation, please complete the following before you begin:

  • Watch the Installation Video: View our 5-minute guide.
  • Get the App: Download the Nimbio app from your phone’s app store.
  • Confirm Installer Access: You need special permissions to install a device. If you don’t see an “Install” tab in the app, call support at 800-353-3422 (ext. 2).

Step 2: On-Site Prep & Wiring

Connect the Wires

Find your specific gate operator in our Wiring Guides knowledge base to see the correct diagram. If you can’t find your model, call our support team for live assistance.
Note: if you need wires, we recommend 24 gauge silicone wire.

Configure Phone Settings

The Nimbio Installer App requires two settings to be enabled on your phone:

  • Bluetooth: Must be turned ON to connect to the Nimbio hardware.
  • Location Services: Permission must be set to “While Using the App” (iPhone) or “Allow only while using the app” (Android).

Step 3: Device Configuration in the App

Open the Nimbio app and tap the “Install” tab to begin. The app will guide you through the following setup stages.

1. Select Device & Activate SIM

From the list of nearby devices, tap the one you are installing (it will have the strongest signal). Then, tap the “Activate” button. Tap the “Continue” button to proceed.

2. Enter Community Details

Tap “New Community.” Enter the Community Name and the Gate Owner’s contact information (name, phone, email). The Gate Owner is the primary contact for the job. If the hardware device you’re currently installing is an additional access point on a Nimbio property, select an existing community name from “Recent Communities”.

CRITICAL: The Gate Owner’s phone number and email must be correct. Nimbio cannot activate the service without accurate information. Please double-check it.

3. Set Locations & Names

The app will ask you to set three items:

  • Community Location: Drag the pin to the property’s main entrance.
  • Access Point Name: Give the gate a name (e.g., “Main Gate,” “South Gate”). This is what residents will see in their app.
  • Gate Location: Pinpoint the exact physical location of the gate where the device is installed.

4. Set Timezone & Program

Confirm the device’s timezone is correct. Finally, review your entries and tap “Program Device.” A “Success” message will confirm the configuration is saved.


Step 4: Final Testing & Mounting

Test the Device

A Nimbio support team member will call you within a few minutes to test the gate’s operation. Please wait for this call before closing up the panel.

Mount the Enclosure

After a successful test, securely fasten the lid on the Nimbio enclosure. Mount the box inside the gate operator housing, ensuring the antennas are pointing straight up for the best signal.

Your on-site work is complete! Our team will contact the Gate Owner using the information you provided to finalize their account and activate the service.

Optional: Adjust Relay On Time

To change how long the gate stays open, go to Box Settings > Relay On Time in the app and select the desired duration.
