How is Nimbio more secure than a keypad or shared PIN?
Shared PIN codes are inherently insecure — they spread uncontrollably, can’t be traced, and can’t be revoked without changing the code for everyone. Nimbio uses encrypted individual credentials tied to a specific phone. Every access event is logged with an identity and timestamp, and any credential can be revoked instantly without affecting anyone else.
What encryption does Nimbio use?
All communication between the Nimbio controller, the cloud, and the app is protected by SSL/TLS encryption — the same standard used by banks and enterprise software. Credentials are never transmitted in plain text.
How does cellular make access more secure?
Wi-Fi-based access systems expose your network to proximity attacks — someone near your gate can probe for vulnerabilities in your router or local network. Because Nimbio connects directly to the cellular network, there’s no local Wi-Fi attack surface. The controller is also installed inside the gate operator box, not exposed at the surface, eliminating the vandalism and physical tampering risk that screen-based intercoms face.
Can someone clone my phone and use it to open my gate?
No. Nimbio access is tied to your phone number and a unique encrypted credential, not just a device. Even with physical access to your phone, someone could not replicate your authenticated session on another device.
If your phone is lost or stolen, report it to your property manager or admin, who can revoke your access immediately.
