Keys Tell You When They Work
What changed: A key that is only allowed at certain times now shows those times on the button and explains itself when it refuses, instead of showing the same “DISABLED” label a permanently switched-off key shows.
Where to find it: Keys tab — the round Open button on any time-limited key.
What you’ll see: Where the button used to read “DISABLED”, it now reads the hours the key actually works — “6:00 AM–6:00 PM”. Tap a gate outside its hours and the message says the key only works at set times, rather than “did not open”, which is also what you’d see if the gate were offline. Expired keys and switched-off keys now say which of those it is.
What you need to do: No action needed.

Time-Limited Keys Show the Right State
What changed: The app used to work out a key’s schedule by itself, and got it wrong in the case that matters most — a schedule set on the community’s main key, which applies to every member. The app couldn’t see it, so the Open button looked normal and the gate just refused.
Where to find it: Keys tab.
What you’ll see: The button now reflects what the server will actually do, including restrictions that come from your community rather than your own key. Two related fixes come with it: a key set to “all day” on particular days was being shown as unavailable when it should have worked, and a key whose hours ended while you had the app open kept offering an Open button until you reopened the app — it now notices on its own.
What you need to do: No action needed.

Manage Your Expiring Keys
What changed: Expiring keys now stand out in your list of shared keys, and you can change or remove the expiration after you’ve shared the key.
Where to find it: Sharing tab > tap the key you shared from > the shared key in the list > Key Expiration
What you’ll see: An expiring key carries an “Expiring” badge and a line telling you when it runs out — for example “Expires in 3 days” — instead of looking identical to every other shared key. Once the date passes it reads “Expired” and dims, so you can tell at a glance that it no longer works. Opening the key gives you a Key Expiration section where you can pick a new date and time, remove the expiration entirely, or add one to a key that never had it. Keys you just shared also show up in the list immediately.
What you need to do: No action needed. Keys you’ve already shared pick this up automatically.

Safer CarPlay Sign-In Message
What changed: When you open Nimbio on CarPlay while signed out, the car screen used to say only “Please log in on your phone.” It now explains that you sign in from your phone and reminds you to look at your phone only when it’s safe to do so.
Where to find it: Connect your iPhone to a CarPlay-compatible vehicle or head unit and open Nimbio while signed out.
What you’ll see: A two-line message on the car screen instead of a bare instruction — what to do, and a reminder to do it only when it’s safe.
What you need to do: No action needed.
Who this affects: Members who use CarPlay.
Readable Add Community Screen in Dark Mode
What changed: On the Add Community screen, the “No communities currently found.” message and the link to nimbio.com’s getting-started page were rendered in the light-mode colors, which left dark text on the dark card in dark mode.
Where to find it: Profile tab > My Communities > Add Community (and the same screen during first-time setup).
What you’ll see: In dark mode the empty-results message and the nimbio.com link are now light-on-dark and easy to read. Light mode looks exactly as it did before.
What you need to do: No action needed.
Who this affects: Members and Community Managers using dark mode.
One-Tap Logout
What changed: Logging out now signs you out completely on the first tap. Previously the app could flash back to your key list showing the old account’s keys, and you had to log out a second time to actually reach the login screen.
Where to find it: Profile tab > Logout.
What you’ll see: After confirming the logout, you go straight to the login screen — no reappearing keys, and reopening the app keeps you signed out.
What you need to do: No action needed.
Who this affects: Members and Community Managers.
Faster, More Reliable App Startup
What changed: Fixed an issue where the app could get stuck on the loading screen after signing in or after updating, most noticeably for community managers responsible for a large number of communities. All push-notification setup now runs quietly in the background with strict time limits, so it can never hold up the app.
Where to find it: No new screens — this improves the loading experience when opening the app.
What you’ll see: The app reaches your keys faster and no longer hangs on “Loading Connection” after an update. Notification preferences finish syncing in the background over the next few app launches.
What you need to do: No action needed.
Who this affects: Members and Community Managers — especially managers of many communities.
Community Messages — Review Past Announcements and Tap to Open
What changed: You can now revisit the messages your community managers have sent, and tapping a community-message notification takes you straight to it instead of just opening the app.
Where to find it: Profile tab > Community Messages.
What you’ll see: A “Community Messages” screen listing your communities’ announcements newest first — each showing the community, the sender, the time, and the message. If you belong to more than one community, filter chips let you narrow to one. Tapping a community-message push notification opens the app directly to this screen (and, when possible, scrolls to that message); the back button still works normally, so you don’t lose your place.
What you need to do: No action needed.

Expiring Keys — Share Access That Ends Automatically
What changed: When you share a key, you can now create an “Expiring Key” that works normally until a date and time you choose, then automatically stops working — no need to remember to revoke it later.
Where to find it: Keys (Home) tab or Manage Key > Create Key > Expiring Key.
What you’ll see: A fourth key type, “Expiring Key,” in the Create Key list. After choosing a contact you’ll pick when it expires — a quick option (1 Hour, 1 Day, 1 Week, or 1 Month) or an exact date and time from a calendar. A summary shows exactly when the key will expire. By default an expiring key can’t be re-shared, but you can turn re-sharing on.
What you need to do: Choose an expiration when creating the key. No action is needed afterward — it turns itself off at the time you set.

Home-Screen Widget to Open a Gate
What changed: You can now add a Nimbio widget to your iOS home screen that opens a gate with a single tap, without opening the app first. When you add the widget you pick which gate it should control, and the widget displays that gate’s name so it’s clear what it opens.
Where to find it: Touch and hold the home screen > tap the “+” (Add Widget) > search for Nimbio > add the widget > touch and hold it to choose which gate it opens.
What you’ll see: A Nimbio widget on your home screen labeled with your chosen gate’s name. On iOS 17 and newer, tapping it opens the gate right from the home screen; on older versions it opens the app to complete the request.
What you need to do: Add the widget and pick a gate. You need to be signed in to the app; the widget uses your existing account and keys.

Faster Community Search When Adding a Community
What changed: Searching for your community when adding one now happens on the server instead of downloading the entire community list to your phone and filtering it there. As you type, the app asks the server for the closest name matches and shows them — so the search stays fast and light no matter how many communities exist.
Where to find it: Profile tab > My Communities > Add Community (also shown during onboarding and while waiting for your first key) > the “Search Communities” box.
What you’ll see: The same search box as before. Results appear a moment after you stop typing, ranked by how closely they match your community’s name.
What you need to do: No action needed — just type your community’s name as usual.
Who this affects: Members
Faster Sign-In Code Entry
What changed: During phone sign-in, your verification code now appears as a one-tap suggestion above the keyboard, and the app finishes signing you in the moment the code is complete — no extra button tap. Sign-in codes are now six digits.
Where to find it: Login flow > enter phone number > the code entry screen.
What you’ll see: Tap the code suggestion above the keyboard (or type it), and you’re signed in automatically once all six digits are entered.
What you need to do: No action needed.
Who this affects: Members, Community Managers
Cleaner, Correctly-Scoped Push Notifications
What changed: Push notifications now stop when you sign out, and they clean themselves up automatically when you switch accounts, leave a community, or your role changes — so you only receive the alerts that still apply to you. A one-time cleanup runs the first time you open this update to clear out any leftover notification subscriptions from older versions.
Where to find it: No navigation needed — this happens automatically in the background (including after Profile tab > Sign Out and after community or role changes).
What you’ll see: You stop receiving notifications for accounts or communities you’re no longer part of, and signing out fully stops notifications on that device.
What you need to do: No action needed.
Who this affects: Members, Community Managers
Returns You to Login if Your Account Is Removed
What changed: If your account is removed while you’re signed in, the app now detects this the next time it loads your profile at startup and sends you back to the login screen, instead of getting stuck on the “Community & Keys” loading screen. (A brief connection hiccup is treated differently — the app still retries to reconnect rather than signing you out.)
Where to find it: The startup loading screen, shown after sign-in while the app loads your communities and keys.
What you’ll see: Instead of an endless loading spinner, you’re returned to the login screen so you can sign in again.
What you need to do: No action needed. If your account was removed, sign in again with a valid account.
