GuestView Guide for Residents

GuestView is how visitors reach you at the gate. From the Nimbio app, you control your directory listing, create access codes for guests, and answer video calls — from anywhere in the world.

The features available to you depend on what your community manager has enabled for your property.

Controlling how you appear in the directory

In the app, go to Profile → My Communities → [Your Community] → Directory Preferences. From there you can:

  • Opt out — remove yourself from the public directory entirely
  • Set a custom display name — swap the default “First Initial. Last Name” for a unit number, property name, or nickname

Creating access codes for guests

Generate a unique, time-limited access code and share it with a trusted visitor, dog walker, or service provider in advance — hands-off entry, no call required.

Creating a code

Go to Profile → My Communities → [Your Community] → Access Code Management. Create a code using letters, numbers, and spaces, choose which gate or door it opens, and optionally set an expiration date or specific hours it’s valid.

What your guest does with it

Your guest scans the QR code at the call box, finds your name in the directory that opens in their browser, and enters the code next to your name. The gate opens instantly — no app or account needed on their end.

Disabling or deleting a code

  • Disable (reversible) — temporarily stop a code from working
  • Delete (permanent) — remove a code for good

Deleting is permanent. If you’re not completely sure a visitor won’t need their code again, it’s always safer to disable it instead of deleting it.

Answering a visitor’s video call

When a visitor doesn’t have a code, they can send a call request from the directory instead — you get a text, and your tap is what starts the call. Here’s what happens on your end:

  1. You get a text message with a link to answer — from anywhere in the world, not just at home
  2. Answer to see the visitor’s live video feed
  3. Tap the open button to let them in
  4. If you don’t answer, the call times out and the visitor can try again or use an access code instead

Number-Verified Access:

if your community manager has enabled it for your gate, a visitor with no code can also verify their own phone number and let themselves in, without calling you at all. There’s nothing for you to set up — your community manager controls which gates allow it.

What your community manager can and can’t see

Your community manager can see the codes you’ve created and the audit log of gate activity for security purposes, but they cannot see your personal contact list or who you’ve shared a code with.
