Wiring guide: All-O-Matic SL-90 DC

This guide shows where each wire from the Nimbio terminal strip lands on the All-O-Matic SL-90 DC’s ALL-BLDC circuit board, and which relay setting Gate Status needs. Gate Status: wired. Sense 1 and SC connect across the board’s RELAY-1 contact, and Nimbio maps the relay’s two states to the labels shown in the app. RELAY-1 is on newer SL-90 boards only (see Gate Status).

Before you start

  • Power the operator down at its supply before touching any terminal.
  • The Nimbio terminal strip has eight terminals: PWR+, PWR-, Sense 2, SC, Sense 1, NC, C and NO. This guide wires Sense 1 and SC; Sense 2 is not used (see “Connections”).
  • Power: PWR+ and PWR- land on the board’s +24VDC and GROUND terminals, rated up to 500 mA for accessories. The Nimbio board draws 40 to 70 mA.
  • You need a small screwdriver for the terminal screws.

Older boards have no RELAY-1 (the change appears to date from about 2019), so Gate Status cannot be wired from the operator board on them. Sense-line polarity does not depend on the wiring. Nimbio maps each sense line’s triggered and untriggered state to an Open or Closed label after installation. If Gate Status shows the opposite of the physical gate, contact Nimbio support to have the labels switched; no rewiring is needed. Settings on the operator

The RELAY-1 contact’s behavior is chosen with DIP switches S1 and S2 on the ALL-BLDC board. This guide sets it to configuration 4: active when the gate is not fully closed. Confirm the setting for your site with Nimbio support during installation.

Gate Status

Gate Status: wired. Sense 1 and SC connect across the RELAY-1 contact, set to configuration 4 (DIP S1/S2): active when the gate is not fully closed. Nimbio maps the relay’s two states to the labels shown in the app. Sense-line polarity does not depend on the wiring. Nimbio maps each sense line’s triggered and untriggered state to an Open or Closed label after installation. If Gate Status shows the opposite of the physical gate, contact Nimbio support to have the labels switched; no rewiring is needed.

RELAY-1 is on newer SL-90 boards only. Older boards have no RELAY-1 (the change appears to date from about 2019), so Gate Status cannot be wired from the operator board on them.

No suitable output on your operator? A magnetic gate switch can report the gate’s position instead: wire its two leads to Sense 1 and SC for fully closed, or to Sense 2 and SC for fully open. The switch must be a dry contact that puts out no power of its own; if yours puts out power, add a relay that turns it into a dry contact.

Frequently asked questions

Does the All-O-Matic SL-90 DC need an expansion board for Gate Status? +

No. Sense 1 and SC land on the RELAY-1 contact of the main ALL-BLDC circuit board.

Which Nimbio terminals open the gate on the All-O-Matic SL-90 DC? +

NO and C, wired to EXIT/OPEN CMD and COMMON. The Nimbio relay closes NO to C, which the SL-90 DC reads as an open command.

Why is Sense 2 not used on the All-O-Matic SL-90 DC? +

RELAY-1 is a single N.O./COM contact. One contact reports one state, so Sense 1 and SC across it is the complete connection; a second sense line on the same contact would only mirror the first.

Is the Nimbio NC terminal used on the All-O-Matic SL-90 DC? +

No. The operator input takes the NO and C pair, so NC stays empty.

Does every All-O-Matic SL-90 DC board have RELAY-1? +

No. RELAY-1 is on newer SL-90 boards only. Older boards have none (the change appears to date from about 2019), so on an older board Gate Status cannot be wired from the operator board.
