Wiring guide: DoorKing 9070

This guide shows where each wire from the Nimbio terminal strip lands on the DoorKing 9070’s 4702-010 circuit board, and which switch setting the relay needs. Gate Status: wired on the main board. Sense 1 and SC connect across the board’s dry relay contact, and Nimbio maps the relay’s two states to the labels shown in the app.

Note: This operator cannot supply enough continuous power for Nimbio. Use a separate 12–24V AC or DC power supply.

Before you start

  • Power the operator down at its supply before touching any terminal.
  • The Nimbio terminal strip has eight terminals: PWR+, PWR-, Sense 2, SC, Sense 1, NC, C and NO. This guide wires PWR+, PWR-, SC, Sense 1, C and NO; Sense 2 and NC are not used (see “Connections”).
  • Power: PWR+ and PWR- go to a separate power supply, not to the operator board. Terminal 7 (24 VAC, radio receiver power) is limited to 250 mA for everything connected to it, so do not power the Nimbio from it. The Nimbio accepts 6.5 to 24 V AC or DC; either supply lead can go to either PWR terminal.
  • DoorKing revised this control board after 2016 for updated safety standards. The terminal numbers on this page follow the 2009-revision 9050/9070 manual; on a newer board, the labels printed beside the terminals take precedence over the numbers here.
  • You need a small screwdriver for the terminal screws.

Terminal 7 (24 VAC, radio receiver power) is limited to 250 mA for everything connected to it; give the Nimbio its own power supply. The Nimbio accepts 6.5 to 24 V AC or DC, and either supply lead can go to either PWR terminal. DoorKing revised this control board after 2016 for updated safety standards. The terminal numbers on this page follow the 2009-revision 9050/9070 manual; on a newer board, the labels printed beside the terminals take precedence over the numbers here. Sense-line polarity does not depend on the wiring. Nimbio maps each sense line’s triggered and untriggered state to an Open or Closed label after installation. If Gate Status shows the opposite of the physical gate, contact Nimbio support to have the labels switched; no rewiring is needed. When the wiring is done, restore power at the supply. A Nimbio support team member then calls to test the gate before you close the panel.

Settings on the operator

The dry relay contact’s behavior is chosen with switch 3 on the 4702-010 circuit board. The manual’s two options are: switch 3 ON, relay active when the gate is in the full open position; switch 3 OFF, relay active when the gate is not closed. Confirm the setting for your site with Nimbio support during installation.

Gate Status

Gate Status: wired. Sense 1 (terminal 10) and SC (terminal 11) connect across the dry relay contact. The relay switches on the gate condition selected with switch 3, and Nimbio maps its two states to the labels shown in the app. Sense-line polarity does not depend on the wiring. Nimbio maps each sense line’s triggered and untriggered state to an Open or Closed label after installation. If Gate Status shows the opposite of the physical gate, contact Nimbio support to have the labels switched; no rewiring is needed.

No suitable output on your operator? A magnetic gate switch can report the gate’s position instead: wire its two leads to Sense 1 and SC for fully closed, or to Sense 2 and SC for fully open. The switch must be a dry contact that puts out no power of its own; if yours puts out power, add a relay that turns it into a dry contact.

Frequently asked questions

Does the DoorKing 9070 need an expansion board for Gate Status? +

No. Sense 1 and SC land on the dry relay contact of the main 4702-010 circuit board, terminals 10 and 11.

Which Nimbio terminals open the gate on the DoorKing 9070? +

NO and C, wired to the Full Open/Close Input (terminal 8) and Low Voltage Common (terminal 12). The Nimbio relay closes NO to C. On the 9070 that input opens a closed gate; if the gate is already open it holds or resets the auto-close timer, and if the gate is closing it reverses it.

Why is Sense 2 not used on the DoorKing 9070? +

Terminals 10 and 11 are the two sides of one relay contact. One contact reports one state, so Sense 1 and SC across it is the complete connection; a second sense line on the same contact would only mirror the first.

Does this guide apply to the DoorKing 9050? +

The 9050 and 9070 share the 4702-010 circuit board and the same installation manual, so the terminal numbers are the same. This guide was written for the 9070.

Is the Nimbio NC terminal used on the DoorKing 9070? +

No. The operator input takes the NO and C pair, so NC stays empty.
