Wiring guide: LiftMaster LA400

This guide shows where each wire from the Nimbio terminal strip lands on the LiftMaster LA400’s main control board. Gate Status: needs the expansion board. This guide wires the open command and power only, so the Nimbio app does not show whether this gate is open or closed with this wiring.

Note: This operator cannot supply enough continuous power for Nimbio. Use a separate 12–24V AC or DC power supply.

Before you start

  • Power the operator down at its supply before touching any terminal.
  • The Nimbio terminal strip has eight terminals: PWR+, PWR-, Sense 2, SC, Sense 1, NC, C and NO. This guide wires PWR+, PWR-, C and NO; the other four stay empty.
  • Power: PWR+ and PWR- go to a separate 12-24 V AC or DC power supply, not to the operator board. The board’s accessory output is rated 500 mA, but Nimbio installations powered from this board have had unstable power. The Nimbio board draws 40 to 70 mA.
  • You need a small screwdriver for the terminal screws.

The board’s accessory output is rated 500 mA, but Nimbio installations powered from this board have had unstable power. Sense-line polarity does not depend on the wiring. Nimbio maps each sense line’s triggered and untriggered state to an Open or Closed label after installation. If Gate Status shows the opposite of the physical gate, contact Nimbio support to have the labels switched; no rewiring is needed. When the wiring is done, restore power at the supply. A Nimbio support team member then calls to test the gate before you close the panel.

Settings on the operator

No operator setting is changed by this guide.

Gate Status

Gate Status: needs the expansion board. The LA400 has an optional expansion board for additional inputs, but this guide does not wire the Nimbio sense lines to it, so the app does not report open or closed for this gate. If you need Gate Status on an LA400, contact Nimbio support before wiring.

Frequently asked questions

Does this guide give Gate Status on the LiftMaster LA400? +

No. This guide wires the open command and power only. The LA400 has an optional expansion board, but connecting the Nimbio sense lines to it is not covered here; contact Nimbio support if you need it.

Which Nimbio terminals open the gate on the LiftMaster LA400? +

NO and C, wired to the Exit input on the main control board. The Nimbio relay closes NO to C, which the LA400 reads as a soft open command.

Is the Nimbio NC terminal used on the LiftMaster LA400? +

No. The operator input takes the NO and C pair, so NC stays empty.
