Wiring guide: Viking G-5

This guide shows where each wire from the Nimbio terminal strip lands on the Viking G-5’s control board. Gate Status: not wired in this guide. The G-5’s Magnetic Lock output is typically a powered circuit that needs a separate switch before Nimbio can read it, so the Nimbio app does not show whether this gate is open or closed with this wiring.

Note: This operator cannot supply enough continuous power for Nimbio. Use a separate 12–24V AC or DC power supply.

Before you start

  • Power the operator down at its supply before touching any terminal.
  • The Nimbio terminal strip has eight terminals: PWR+, PWR-, Sense 2, SC, Sense 1, NC, C and NO. This guide wires PWR+, PWR-, C and NO; the other four stay empty.
  • Power: PWR+ and PWR- go to a separate 12-24 V AC or DC power supply, not to the operator board’s 24VDC accessory output.
  • You need a small screwdriver for the terminal screws.

Sense-line polarity does not depend on the wiring. Nimbio maps each sense line’s triggered and untriggered state to an Open or Closed label after installation. If Gate Status shows the opposite of the physical gate, contact Nimbio support to have the labels switched; no rewiring is needed. No operator setting is changed by this guide.

Gate Status

Gate Status: not wired in this guide. The G-5’s Magnetic Lock output changes state at the closed limit, but it is typically a powered (wet) circuit meant to energize a 24 V maglock coil. It cannot connect to Nimbio’s sense inputs without a separate switch (a relay), which this guide does not cover. If you need Gate Status on a G-5, contact Nimbio support before wiring.

Frequently asked questions

Does this guide give Gate Status on the Viking G-5? +

No. This guide wires the open command and power only. The G-5’s Magnetic Lock output is typically a powered circuit and needs a separate switch (a relay) before Nimbio’s sense inputs can read it, which this guide does not cover.

Can the Nimbio be powered from the Viking G-5’s accessory power? +

No. Power Nimbio from a separate 12-24 V AC or DC power supply, not from the operator board’s 24VDC accessory output.

Which Nimbio terminals open the gate on the Viking G-5? +

NO and C, wired to Exit and GND. The Nimbio relay closes NO to C, which the G-5 reads as an open command.

Is the Nimbio NC terminal used on the Viking G-5? +

No. The operator input takes the NO and C pair, so NC stays empty.
